How Cincoze Helps Railway Companies
Railroad tracks take a regular beating from the considerable weight of trains running over them every day. In the long term, this can result in deformation of the track or loosening and defects of the fasteners. If left unchecked, these issues may cause shaking of the trains and become a threat to passengers. Therefore, railroad tracks need periodic inspection and monitoring to ensure safe transportation. The health status of railroad tracks is critical to ensure the safe and stable operation of rail transit.
A railway system engineering company specializing in building railroad track construction and track maintenance machines requested Cincoze to develop a computer system for its automated track inspection vehicle. The track inspection vehicle is a machine-vision-based track imaging system equipped with laser sensors and cameras under the train carriages, producing real-time track geometry images. While the company integrated the whole inspection system, Cincoze offered the high-performance GP-3000 embedded GPU computer to provide image processing and computer vision techniques for the rolling stock environments.
Customer's Requirements
Exceptional Computing Power
The machine-vision-based track imaging system requires a high-performance computer. The computer is responsible for image capture, processing, and analysis through high-resolution cameras, necessitating a robust computer with GPU computing power. Moreover, the computer needs to deal with mechanical measures, parameter setting, reporting, connecting with peripherals such as GPS, and even connecting to the control room or the cloud. A high-performance computer is required to perform deep learning model training and algorithm to calculate and record the position of defective tracks.
Expansion Scalability
PCI Express expansion slots are required for the NVIDIA® Quadro RTX™ 6000 graphics card and provide the expansion possibility for an image capture card, RAID card, control card, or other add-on cards. Modular expansion to add extra I/O or other functions is also preferred.
Rolling Stock Compliance
Railway applications put extra stress on electronics, so to function as the main processing unit, the desired computer needs to withstand the harsh conditions in the rolling stock, including extreme temperatures and reoccurring shock and vibration.
Why Cincoze?
High-Performance CPU and GPU Computing
Cincoze’s GP-3000 series is powered by a 9th generation Intel® Xeon®/Core™ CPU and supports two DDR4-2666MHz with ECC RAM (up to 64 GB) obligatory for server use. It supports up to two 250 W high-end GPU cards and supplies a total system power budget of 720 W. The GP-3000 can operate stably with a heat dissipation mechanism and dust-proof external smart fan kits that effectively dissipate heat under 100% loading of CPU and GPU in extreme conditions. The GP-3000 is a tough AI edge computer that delivers unparalleled processing power to run intelligent workloads.
PCIe and Modular Expansion
The GP-3000 has an exclusive modular GPU Expansion Box (GEB), a scalable GPU solution with a single- or dual-GPU GEB connecting externally for upgradability. The GEBs can accommodate up to two high-end full-length (328 mm max) GPU cards and other PCIe expansion cards. The unique “Adjustable GPU Retainer” is included to secure GPU cards of any size firmly and prevent GPU cards from shaking loose in high-vibration environments. On top of that, Cincoze’s CMI/CFM modules offer customization for additional I/O or other functionality such as 10 GbE LAN, PoE, and Power Ignition Sensing.
Robust Design with Industry Certifications
The GP-3000 passed a series of stringent tests and industry standards, including MIL-STD-810G military standard, E-mark for in-vehicle applications, and EN50155 (EN 50121-3-2 only) for rolling stock. It can withstand hot and cold temperature extremes, shock and vibration, and high electromagnetic radiation.
